Our Ideas:

Leverage community and healthcare contact points and infrastructure

Survivors are unlikely to report domestic violence in the home environment. Implementing data collection at key points of continued person-to-person contact will ensure structured reporting outlets persist during COVID-19.

Hospitals and Testing Centers

  • Integrating a domestic violence screening tool into COVID-19 testing.

  • Pairing local response organizations to testing centers.

Grocery Stores, Food Banks, and Pharmacies

  • Integrating platforms for discrete reporting.

  • Training store workers to connect survivors with resources.

  • Providing information about local response services in those essential spaces.

Airports

  • Including a survey item on the CDC questionnaire on whether individuals have a safe home environment to return to for the mandated two week quarantine when entering the USA.

Schools

  • Conducting assessments of virtual learning with short inquiries into home environments and their conduciveness to learning and productivity.

Contribute to alternative housing resources for survivors

Bring business to the hotel industry and ensure the safety of survivors by sponsoring hotel stays for at-risk individuals.
